After qualifying NEET UG, candidates register for AYUSH UG Counselling — the common admission gateway for BAMS, BHMS, BUMS and BSMS. The AYUSH Admissions Central Counselling Committee (AACCC, aaccc.gov.in) handles 15% All India Quota seats, while each state's own AYUSH counselling authority handles the remaining 85% state quota and private college seats. BAMS is a 5.5-year program: 4.5 years academic plus a 1-year compulsory internship.

Tamil Nadu
Tamil Nadu has multiple BAMS colleges affiliated to The Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University, with admission through the state AYUSH counselling authority — following the same NEET-based structure as other states.
Chennai
As Tamil Nadu's capital, Chennai hosts several established Ayurveda colleges with attached hospitals, drawing consistent search interest from students preferring a metro location for BAMS study.
Mumbai
Mumbai is home to some of Maharashtra's most established Ayurveda institutions, with admission routed through Maharashtra's state AYUSH/CET counselling process alongside AACCC for AIQ seats.
Gujarat
Gujarat has a particularly strong Ayurveda education ecosystem, including some of India's oldest and most recognised Ayurvedic institutions, with admission via Gujarat's state AYUSH counselling authority.
